It was taken with the Finepix S1500. You can see the first section has different light than the rest of the pic. I think it was because of where the sun was and what effect the glare had.

It does take some amazing regular shots though. I love this one:

Seasonal Changes Are All Around Us

Oh my gosh it has been a long and extremely busy fall here in Alberta! Just as the seasons around us change so do the seasons of our lives. Mine has seen several changes this fall including an important decision regarding my paper crafting.

You have probably noticed differences in my blog. This is because I have decided to take a break from being a Close To My Heart consultant. Don't get me wrong - I LOVE all my customers and the CTMH product line but I need to slow down from sales so I can start to enjoy having the time to use them!! I have started a full time job and for the time being I need to concentrate on learning all the ins and outs of my new position. My downtime - just as it is for many of my followers - is the actual creative process.

DON'T PANIC!!!!!

Shandel has ongoing workshops with the latest paper packs. She just completed her latest Christmas card workshop using Mistletoe - pictures to be posted soon. Shandel has also posted a challenge on her site. Head on over and check it out! I have a project in the works for this challenge...can't wait for you to see it!

Miranda has completed her CTMH training and is PhD Certified. She also works full time so her posting may be a little slow but when she does - WOW - what amazing talent this lady possesses!

And finally, I will continue working behind the scenes for both my customers and my team members to ensure that everyone stays on top of all the new developments. MyCTMH will be available for online ordering until the end of December.

Close To My Heart is going through it's own seasonal changes and what HUGE changes they are to be.

Starting in February 2011, the Idea Book will be switching to semi-annual. Instead of the usual 4 new paper packs per book, there will now be 8!!! Yes, you heard it right!! I can hardly wait to see what gorgeous papers they will share with the world! What an advantage to you, dear customer! This will give you a longer window to purchase the supplies you need to complete your projects.

If Jeff Dunham can make money with puppets who swear and make racial slurs why can't this fellow get paid for clean material? Now if only some talent scout would see this video and get this guy off the street and onto a stage.

Halloween Blog Hop

Although we are still in September, I'm anxious to get to Halloween! This holiday isn't just for the kiddies to get a free candy grab...LOL. It has a long history and is misunderstood by most people. Google "halloween" and "samhain" and read some of the articles - you will be amazed at how this ancient religious festival has been twisted over the years!

Now on to my creation. I used several techniques in creating my card - masking, sponging, embossing.

I used the stamp sets Spellbound and Spooky Night. A $Store fabric ghost completes the card.

Tribute to Naomi in Olivia

This layout really shows why I scrapbook.My first grand daughter only graced my life for 15 days but has left me with so much love, so many memories, and a renewed sense of what it means to live a courageous life.

Yesterday would have been her 2nd birthday and I kept busy by working out in my yard, tidying things for the coming winter. Working out in nature eased my hurt soul and yet my mind kept wandering to her and what I could do to honor this sweet little girl who entered my life so briefly yet made such a huge impact in it. Her ability to beat the odds stacked against her each and every hour of her life - day after day - taught me that I can certainly overcome any hurdle in my path.

Our new paper pack Olivia seems to do Naomi justice at this time of year. It's swirled patterns with vines and leaves reminds me that life is an endless circle. Plants slow down and fade away to sleep under the snow until it is time for them to return once again in new forms. Although Naomi can never return in her physical form, her precious soul reappears daily to say "Hello Grammy, I'm never far away when you remember me."

Creating Again!

Well I have finally managed to move most of my stuff to the new scrap room...YEAH!!!!!
So as soon as I found desk space I had to play. The boards have been showing clear cards with embossing on them so I gave it a whirl.

I used a circle clear card, the new Olivia paper, The Present stamp set, and a pumpkin Cuttlebug folder. I'm not sure I'm happy with the result but it was fun to play! After I embossed the card, I also embossed the same pattern on the B&T paper then cut out the pumpkin and LG'd it to the inside of the card. I added brown Staz-on ink then wiped it off to lightly "smoke" the cover.

You can see the difference the Staz-on made on the cover compared to the back of the card. I used the corner grassy stamp and the vine to create a "garden" for my pumpkin. I'm thinking I will cut out another pumpkin in reverse to hide the green color on the inside. What do you think?

I covered the back side with some more Olivia B&T to hide my glue from the inside.

And there is my very first clear card! When working with these remember that they have a protective coating on all sides so remember to remove that BEFORE adhering your elements. I left the coating on while embossing the card to prevent any errant scratches.

Back To School at Canadian Paper Trail

It is the end of August and that means back to school for all the little boys and girls. Let's also not forget those dedicated educators who are back once again to fill those minds with worldly knowledge. They all deserve a treat and so I've put together a couple of projects to make that first day back extra special.

What student wouldn't love to get this miniature backpack filled with chocolate goodies?

I used the CTMH Felicity paper and CTMH ribbon and brads. The pattern came from Splitcoast Stampers website. Mmmmmm yummy Hershey's nuggets complete the treat.

And for the dedicated teacher, back to fill the minds of another class.

The Survival lunchbox is created using my Hinged Box pattern and CTMH Notebook paper. I also included some yummy Hershey's nuggets for the teacher. Chocolate is always a good stress reliever don't you think?

Miracle Kit by Miranda!!

Miranda Moreno, my daughter and a Close To My Heart consultant, has finally gotten around to working with the Miracle kit. Too bad she waited so long as she created such a wonderful piece of art to commemorate their visit to Mexico. More! More!

She didn't have a 5 x 7 photo so she added a 1/4" frame of Bamboo cardstock followed by a 1/2" frame of Crystal Blue Cardstock. This layering makes the photo of her husband pop off the page.

She used Holiday Red to accent the Irresitables chipboard to co-ordinate beautifully with hubby's ball cap.

The remainder of the layout was completed per instructions.

2 More Layouts and "Movin On Down" Pics

It's been a busy couple of weeks but I have had a few quiet moments to get some scrappin in.

Challenge # 6 ==> Reflections Half & Half - Top Focus and Treasure Pocket - pg. 84 & 118

I'm still using up the Key To My Heart paper pack and getting down to the nitty gritty. I didn't make the pocket on the layout as I liked the way it turned out. Everything is CTMH except the black felt flower band. The black is so dramatic with these colors. I love using the black card stock as the base of these layouts.

Challenge #7 ==> Imagine Understudy pg. 110

This one is less embellished. I seem to sway back and forth on straight design to blingier. Is that a word? Well it is now because it should be! On this one I just added a striped ribbon and a small lace border. Again, I'm not sure what I plan on using the pages for but may bling it out later.

And now the source for my busy-ness. Below are my moving pictures. I am moving from the upper to the lower level of the house. My new room is being set up so that I can hold classes with 4 people. As my business grows I will have to expand but this serves the purpose for now.

My daughter - the organizer - was on hand and made me do a "Hoarder" episode. Yes, my name is Christine and I AM a hoarder!! So we got to work and I went through each and every package box and bag and tossed! Here are pics of the original room 3/4th empty.

This is the new space starting to take shape.
As you enter the room you see my work desk centered to accomodate 4 people. This massive desk was moved down by my SIL and 2 of his strong buddies! Oh my gosh what a procedure! No walls or toes were damaged in this maneuver!!

The south wall is full of cupboards. This was a secondary kitchen. DH and I removed the gas stove and fridge to clear the space. This is where my cutting stations will be. I have my Cuttlebug and Cricut set up in this area. The cupboard hold all the folders, nesties and cartridges. The grey cabinet was a donation from my lovely neighbor when she did her clean sweep earlier this year. It will be perfect for holding all my misc. embellishments.

This bookcase is my new stamp holder. It fits my hundreds of stamps and in the next few days will have my extra inks hung up above it in an old cassette holder I bought at Value Village for a dollar. Yes, I am a treasure hunter and love to find new uses for old items.

I have already designated the one huge drawer as a punch holder. I can lay out all my punches and with a quick glace I can grab exactly what I want.

These last 2 pics show tower components from a closet organtizer DH bought on sale at Canadian Tire for DS's bedroom. DS decided he'd rather hang all his clothes instead of having to fold everything for the shelves. PERFECT! I can use these in my space. The one behind my desk will hold all my catties, How-To books, and my business supplies. The other one by the door will hold miscellaneous crafting tools such as my extensive stash of adhesives. A girl can never be too rich, too sexy, or have too much adhesive!

That's the end of my scrap space tour for now. I will post final pics when it is completely organized and ready to start crafting in.
Where did the Hoarder throw out take place? In the rec room!! Take a look at this!! This is after a full day of touch and toss.

On the floor are 5 containers of stuff that will not join me in my new space. My big basket will come back in but empty - to be refilled with goodies for my class and workshop participants. The rubbermaid container will find a new use elsewhere.

And for those of you close to where I live - this coming Friday and Saturday (July 30-31) I am having a yard sale where all these much loved items will be looking for a new home. 2 More Layouts Done

I'm working away at the layout challenges including my own!

Challenge 4 ==> Imagine Minuet Pg 46-47

I used CTMH Emporium L2. I decided to try and use up my 1000's of eyelets so I added 2 rows of complimentary colors to the bottom of the layout. I liked the medalions on one of B&T sheets so I cut them out of the sheet and glued them down. I also used some distressing techniques by sanding all the edges and "leathered" the cardstock.

Challenge 5 ==> Cherish easy Inspiration Pg 106-107

The next layout goes back to the Key To My Heart Kit. I so love these colors. I'm also trying to use up each pack and stop my hoarding!! This layout is pretty basic as I'm not quite sure how I'm going to use it yet. I added a Buttercup ribbon border then equally spaced Cranberry mini brads across the ribbon. I used edge anchors to hold the ribbon ends. I used half an anchor edge to hold down the ribbon and sassy strands on the LH page.

I would have had a couple more layouts but I got distracted by a few tutorials out there. I'm working on an envelop album and a T-slider card! I tried my hand at paper piecing for the first time as well. Wow! I should have tried this technique sooner. So many ideas, so little crafting hours in a day!

New Colors

Hinged Box Tutorial Part 3

OK! We are on the last stage of construction. Today we are going to complete the inside pockets, add a handle and a closure.

Inside Pockets

Cut 2 pieces of cardstock at 8.5" x 3".

Score 3 sides 0.5" in then score another 0.5" in.

Cut off marked corners and cut a slit on the remaining squares to make 2 flaps. Fold in along score lines.

Adhere the flaps first then the outside pieces to form a box shape. I used liquid glass as my glue so I also used my bone folder to slide down in and make sure that the flaps were sitting flat inside the box.

Adhere both pockets to the inside of your box, one on either side.

Handle
This stage is really up to you. I created an optional briefcase handle.
*You could also use ribbon to create a purse handle. Cut 2 pieces of ribbon equal lengths. Add eyelets to both ends of each side of your box. Insert the ribbon tying a knot on the inside to hold it in place.*

Cut 1 piece of cardstock 8.5" x 2".
Score the 2 long ends at 0.5". Score the 2 short ends at 1".

Fold in the long sides making sure to use your bone folder to go over the crease several times. Then take the piece and start training it to curve. I put it over 2 fingers on my left hand and pulled it through. This is what makes the curve in your handle. You could also run the strip over the edge of your table. Sorry I didn't explain this very well.

Now fold each short end up towards the curved part at the 1" score. This provides a flat base to attach your handle to your case.

Attach your handle to the top of your case. Center the handle evenly over both sides but only adhere it to one of the sides. Use strong adhesive. I also added a brad to each side for extra strength.

Closure

I chose to use one center closure but you could do 2 to make this look like a true briefcase.
Cut 1 piece at 3" x 1".

Attach this piece in the center between the handles making sure your adhesive is only on one side of the case.

I used Velcro dots to complete the closure. I centered the first dot on the closure then added the second side of the dot right over top of the first one. Then I pressed down the closure onto the side of the case. This ensured that both sides of the Velcro dots were lined up perfectly. I opened up the closure then applied pressure from the inside of the case to ensure the dots adhered properly.

Yuk! Wrinkled fingers! Well I guess you can tell I've washed a load or two of dishes in my day!

Viola!!! Your case is complete!!

Here is my sample case.

A couple of things I've learned along the way:
Cut all your cardstock and B&T pieces out first.
Score all your cardstock and adhere your B&T pieces before folding and adhereing the different components.
It makes adding the B&T much easier.

Now here is the revised main plan for this project. It has the corrected front side pocket measurements and includes sizing charts for your patterned paper.

Last Convention Update

Sorry I don't really have much for you. I'm still trying to glean info from multiple sources.

An error I made - July Constant Campaign is for Studio J for consultants only. The Mini Album Campaign is for August/September.

Paper Pack Colors:
Magnifique paper pack - includes chocolate, lagoon, pacifica, sky - all blues, lagoon has green tint.
Olivia paper pack - Barn red, Pear, Smoothies, and Sunset
Hooligans paper pack - Gypsy, lagoon, pear and sunset
Mistletoe - cocoa, cranberry, garden green and new england ivy

Faux Leather Albums:

12 x 12 Flip Flaps

These flip up and down from the middle and come in 4, 6 and 8" widths

There are many many changes to Studio J, Online Ordering, Credit Card Processing. Most of the information for this is getting posted on the CTMH website in the FAQ section.

Hinged Box Tutorial Part 2

OK, we are now moving on to the outside pockets today. In working with my first design I did find some measurement errors so please note the corrected measurements for the front pockets. I will repost a complete sheet once we are done the construction phase.

Back and Front Pockets

Back Pocket - Cut 1 at 7.5" x 4"

Center Front Pocket - Cut 1 at 3.5" x 4" (size change from original drawing)

Side Front Pockets - Cut 2 at 3.25" x 3.5" (size change from original drawing)

For the back and center front panels core 3 sides 1/2" in then another 1/2" in from your first score as shown below.

Cut away 3 marked corners. Snip in the last remaining square to create a flap. Fold on scores.

Adhere the flaps first then the outside corners. I used my scoring tool to apply pressure from the inside to make a good bond as I was again using CTMH Liquid Glass. Did I tell you how much I love that stuff?

Since the back and center pockets are deeper they were scored at the 1/2" marks. The back is meant to hold more cards or a small notepad and the front center is to hold pens.

Your next two pieces are the side front pockets. They are not as deep so they are scored at the 1/4" mark.
Proceed with the cutting, folding and adhering of these 2 pockets as you did above.

Cover the outside of the back and front of the hinged box and each pocket front with patterned paper then you can adhere the pockets in position. The samples below only show the placement of the pockets before covering with patterned paper. I will post my covered box in the next installment of this tutorial.

Part 3 will be creating inner pockets, a handle and a closure for your hinged box.

Hinged Box Tutorial Part 1

Good Morning! As promised I have a special tutorial for you. I will be doing this in several parts. The first picture shows the cutting/scoring diagram for all the parts.

Today we will be working on the basic hinged box.
First you will need 2 pieces of heavy cardstock.
Side A - Cut 1 at 8.5" x 7"
Side B - Cut 1 at 8.5" x 8" - hinged side
These 2 pieces are what you are going to make the basic box with.

Score Side A at 1" in on all four sides. This will make the box 1" deep'

Snip one side on each of the corners to the 1" score mark to create flaps for your box.
Fold each side inwards to create your sides. Adhere each of the flaps using a strong adhesive. I used CTMH Liquid Glass. I just love that stuff! You cannot imagine the things I have repaired in my house using this product.

Set this piece aside. We will now build the other half of the box with the hinge.
Again, score the piece 1" in on each side.
To create the hinge, you need to make a second 1" score line.
With the 8" side against the top of your scoring tool, score 2" in from the right side.
See the diagram below to see where to score this mark - sorry I'm hoping I explain this correctly!

Cut off the 2 square corners at the first score line. This becomes your hinge to join the 2 boxes together.

Again snip each corner to create flaps. Fold all your sides in making sure to use a mountain fold for your hinge. This piece will slide into Side A to complete the hinge. Adhere all the flaps. Your second side is now ready to join to the first one.

Place the two sides back to back and slide the hinge from Side B into Side A. Adhere with strong adhesive.

VIOLA!!! You now have a hinged box!! Easy Peasy!!

Tomorrow we will work on all the pockets and the closure.

Key To My Heart Layout Challenge

I've decided to do some catchup work on my layouts. I'm starting at the beginning of Helen Onulyks Scrapbook Challenge and since it is up to 66 now I'm waaaaaaay behind! I love these because they use our program books which are fantastic starting points for your pages.

I used an old Constant Campaign kit called Key To My Heart. I love love love this paper. Here are my layouts for challenges 1, 2, and 3.

Challenge 1 ==> Cherish Abstract Pg 66-67

I used machine stitching on the 2 small cross pieces and a couple of elements from Heartfelt Whimsy.

Challenge 2 ==> Imagine Memoirs Complete Pg 66-67

Again I played with my sewing machine and used some decorative stitching on either side of the cross pieces at the bottom of the layout. The ribbon, paper clips, and brads are from the Connections Club mini Black assortment pack.

Challenge 3 ==> Cherish Now and Then Pg 100-101

I used 4 Pewter photo holders and a combination of 2 types of sassy strands to outline the frame on the LHS page.

Stay tuned for more layouts and my second tutorial! The tutorial is on how to build a basic hinged box. This can then be used for a variety of projects such as a paper suitcase or purse-type tote.

Convention Has Started!

Good Morning Everyone.
The CTMH annual convention has officially stated in Washington, DC and I have a couple rumored updates to share with you.

Father's Day Altered Frame

This Father's Day I altered a frame for the sweetie. He didn't have any updated photos of his 3 munchkins. 1 picture is missing but will be taken and inserted in August when munchkin #3 gets here. Below you can see the blank frame in the planning stage and then the completed version.

I used two new stamp sets, CTMH Wonderful Friend (June SOTM) and CTMH Live Inspired. The center stamps are done directly onto the mat. I first stamped with Versamark, embossed the image and chalked around to make it pop out. I then over stamped using Cocoa ink. The corner images are stamped on white card stock with a combination of Versamark and Cocoa loaded at the same time, embossed, cut out, then adhered. It gives a slight touch of dimension to the project.

I made my first flower with the new CTMH 1 1/4 round punch. I love this punch! I used paper from the CTMH Passages pack. The Barn Red side was the perfect color but the other side was Garden Green which didn't match my color scheme. I used blue chalk to color the green side. It was a little fussy to do but the result was just what I wanted. Never be afraid to try to alter your paper to get that perfect match. The center of the flower is a CTMH Filigree Charm which coordinated wonderfully with the paper.

The cardstock buttons and metal swirls are from the $$ Store. The matting was originally white with a cream color framing. I used chalks to color the base to the blue and the framing a cocoa color.

These 2 cards are my Challenge cards from fellow CTMH consultant, Nikki Geers, Weekend Challenge. I was late discovering her blog so I did 2 weeks in one. She'd love for you to join is as well so pop over to her blog HERE.

The first card is based on a sketch posted and you had to use the color red. I gave myself an additional challenge to make a card using MyStickease only.

The second card was another sketch and using stripes. Again I only used MyStickease to complete this project.

New Technique

You can make your own embellishments for your projects using items you already have. With a little bit of Elmers Glue and a Cuttlebug Folder the possibilities are endless. I used the glitter glue for my project.

Here is my sample. I used a 2x2 folder and opened it out flat on the table.

Put a layer of glue onto one side of the folder. Set it aside overnight to fully dry. When dry the glue will be curling up off the folder.

You can then use the piece as is, cut out certain elements, or even color it with your inks. Use pigment ink as dye ink doesn't dry very well on this. I used my CTMH Ocean ink pad and ran it across the top to pop out the features. It's been 8 hours and the ink is finally starting to dry up.

OK, get your Elmers and go play! Show me what you created as well.

Awesome Cards

I would like to share some of the artwork that 2 of my fabulous customers created.

These first two were created by Shandel. These are simply stunning! Her suit cards could be used for so many masculine events - wedding and graduation being only 2 ideas. The details are amazing in the ribbon ties and hankies. The second card is so elegant! I love the way she created faux ribbons out of paper. I give her 10 out of 10 for these handmade treasures!

These next two were created by Erica. She is a beginning paper crafter and I think you would agree with me that she has found a talent buried within her. Her flower card is simple yet extremely elegant. What an awesome job she did on creating the flowers that make card this just pop! The vest card is a wonderful creation. By using an embossing folder she added subtle dimension to the outside of the card without taking away from the absolutely fantastic inner details of the collar and tie pieces. I give these 10 out of 10 again!

My GAME is ON......Finally

My creative block has crumbled. I ordered a couple of L1 kits on the first day of Jackpot June. I am one of those people that has never used a level 1 kit! I know!!!! Shame on me!!

I absolutely L-O-V-E the level 1 kit. It was easy as pie to do the page. Put the picture in the pre-printed spot and embellish. Done! I added Love Letter Rub-ons, Colonial White buttons, Filigree Charms, Black Waxy Flax, Just Blooms, Black brads, silver flowers from the accent tubes we used to get, and a smattering of left over Connections Club sticky pearls.

Isn't it amazing how versatile our CTMH kits are. This kit is called Game On and is meant for using with sports themes. I love how changing up the embellishments turns this into a romantic page. I hesitated a few minutes about using the Stickease letters. The bold letters certainly relay my feelings about this photo and I was glad I broke through the barrier of thinking these are college letters to be used only for football pages.

First Picture Tutorial

Hello Everyone!
I was asked by a couple of friends how I made my infamous shoe. And would I be willing to do a tutorial on how to put it all together. So here we go!

First I need to give credit to the designer of the template - Ellen Hutson. It is her template that I used for this project. You can purchase a copy of it here .

Here is what the shoe will look like when completed

List of Supplies:

Downloaded shoe template

2 pieces of co-ordinating patterned paper - I used CTMH You Rock paper pack

3 brads

1 flower or other embellishment for the top of the show

2 pieces of ribbon, 1 cut about an inch shorter

1 ribbon slide

Any other embellishments you want to add to dress up your shoe

Scissors

Bone Folder

Ruler

Pencil

Paper piercer

Sticky adhesive - I used Glue-Glider Pro with PermaTac

Liquid glue for liner - I used CTMH Bonding Memories glue pen

This next part is up to you. You can either print out the template right onto the back of your patterned paper or make a cardstock template and trace around it. I used the cardstock template because I wanted to make sure to get the striped paper lined up correctly.

I put little marks outside the tracing to show me where the score lines start and end. Line up your ruler with the scoreline marks and score using a bone folder. The score doesn`t have to be deep so I scored this right on top my craft mat.

Next cut out your pattern and fold on the score lines.

As you push the scored areas together you will start to see the shoe shape forming.

Working from the back of the shoe, overlap and glue the 2 back flaps. Make sure you line up the edges of the 2 flaps to form a nice heel back.

Now to finish the heel. Turn the shoe upside down and do the same procedure with the heel flaps.

Now flip the shoe back over and let`s finish the top. Glue the sole in. Put adhesive on the 2 small flaps and the underside. This may be a bit tricky the first time doing this and you might want to use some liquid glue instead of runner.

This next part is even trickier so I would advise you use liquid glue to get the liner set into place properly. Make sure to line up all the edges as close as you can. You can trim away where you didn`t line up quite right.

In my sample I didn`t score the top flaps as I wanted a rounded shoe top. If you score on these lines you will get a flat shoe top.

Overlap the flaps and glue them together. Then with your paper piercer, pierce a hole in the center where you will insert a brad with your embellishment.

Insert your brad through the embellishment and through the hole you pierced. I used CTMH Crocheted Flower, but you can use any flower or bow. You can basically decorate the top how you wish. Instead of a flower or bow you could use brads in a line as a buttons. You are only limited by your imagination here!

Now at this point you can leave it as is or attach a strap to the top. I chose to put on a strap. Pierce 2 holes on either side. Attach a piece of ribbon to each side with a brad.

Thread a ribbon slide onto the shorter ribbon. Insert ribbon from bottom over top the center and back down through the other opening. Take the longer ribbon and thread it the opposite way over top the shorter piece.

And here is the completed shoe!

The Reason for No New Posts!!

OK, so I'm in the process of moving my craft room from the upper floor to a sunny room in the basement. As you can see this is uttter CHAOS!!

It's a slow process but one I know I will be happy with. The new room has tons of cupboards, 2 windows facing south and west, and a sink for cleaning up.

Here is the other layout as featured in the kit. This time I did use their choice of color for the butterfly and button accents - Smoky Plum. The bridesmaids dresses were purple so this was a nice compliment.

OK! Here it finally is. I got the new Miracle kit and had to play with it.
The layout was soooo fast and easy to do. If only my printer had cooperated I could have shared this with a long time ago!

What I Love About This Kit:
Gorgeous papers! Again we have beautiful diecut paper to play with. And the colors! The pictures just don't do this kit justice. I so hope we get a new paperpack from this!

New Irresistibles Die-cuts - chipboard with built in pattern!! All you have to do is add color to them. Chalk them, marker them, sponge them, paint them - whatever your heart desires! They coordinate wonderfully with any pictures you want to use.

I colored mine using the suggested Olive for the leaves. I used Tulip for the flowers, buttons, and butterflies to match-up with Robin's shirt. I followed the rest of the directions and Viola!! done and beautiful.

I also have the second layout completed however my printer is again trying to take a vacation so I have no pics in it. Tomorrow I will either make it work or it will be on vacation in garbage city permanently! Do you hear me little printer?? Yeah! That's right! Garbage city for you! Hehe - I told it didn't I?

I have been lax in my scrapbooking goal! Shame on me!!

However...I have received the new Miracle kit and am in the process of putting a layout together to share with you. The new Irresistibles chipboard is sooooo cool to work with. The colors in this kit are absolutely gorgeous.

Birthday Card for John

Here is this year's birthday card for my future Father-in-law. I used CTMH Basic Textured CS in chocolate for the base of the tri-fold album. Twitterpated and Heartfelt Wonder diecuts adorn the base. I used Twitterpated, Thickers and dollar store stickers for the words on the front cover. I random stamped sayings over the B&T paper before attaching the stickers. The closure wired hounds tooth ribbon and the fibre are both from my local sewing store. The knotted ribbon is CTMH. I printed the saying on Colonial White CS using a computer font called "Curlz". I added some detail to the felt pieces with embroidery floss - makes them less "flat" looking and used a tiny black brad for the squirrel eye. I also inked the edges of the pieces. The acorns at the bottom of the tree are cut out from B&T and adhered to clear craft buttons using liquid glass. Have I told you how much I love that stuff!?!

February Gifts From the Heart

Here are some pics of the handmade gifts given back and forth for February occasions.

The first is a file box made from a tissue box and decorated with Grace papers. Miranda and I watched a video on StampTv.com one night and she remembered how much I loved the idea. She decided to make me my very own for my birthday. What a wonderful present! I just love it!!

Next is my birthday gift from Shandel. Years ago she and her friends burned a cd for me called "Momma Jams". It was a very eclectic mix of music but they were all my favs. I had commented how I needed another one with updated tunes of today. She used the CTMH Mini-Allsorts album and gave me the gift of music. I just love it!!

OOOPSSS...Miranda worked on Momma C Jams cd too! Sorry Chicklet!

The last is my gift back to them for Valentine's day. I know traditionally the day is for lovers but I love my kids so I give them treats too! I'm a crafter at heart and although this one contains no papercrafting at all I think it turned out beautiful and I wanted to share it with you. They each received a Kisses rosebud bouquet. I got all my supplies at Walmart and put these together in about 20 minutes per bouquet. This was my first attempt at making a large stand alone bow and I was happy with the results - thank you YouTube videos...LOL. It really is amazing how bits and pieces can come together to make a gorgeous whole.

Please make sure your seat belts are securely fastened. The pilot has warned me that we are heading into some turbulance. A closet scrapbooking family member has snuck on board!! Welcome aboard Miranda. She is only pointing out the obvious clues that I know you have already guessed. Yes, my favorite non-alcoholic beverage is Timmies and yes my favorite TV series is/was Six Feet Under. Boy does that bring back memories for me! I used to curl up on the couch with my bowl of chocolate ice cream and watch the fictional goings-on in the funeral home for hours at a time. As a side note, the one actor now has his own tv show - Dexter. He is equally creepy in that one as well.

Anyhow back to the next installment of Perfect Finishes Flight #0513 picture feature. Two more blog candy items are shown in this vignette. My spelling is horrible! As a recap, the blog candy now consists of a mini stampset including block, a hand crafted friendship picture holder, a set of mini rubons, and a 3-pack of brad buddies!
